Driving on Motorways requires good planning and observation by the driver.

This video shows typical situations that may arise on Motorways every day and explains how to deal with them. It begins by reminding that the driver and the vehicle must be fit to undertake the journey, using the FLOWER principle.

In four sections – Joining, Driving, Overtaking, Leaving - it covers all aspects of how to drive safely on a motorway.

A fifth section – Emergencies – tells what to do in the event of a vehicle breakdown and shows when an incident affects all traffic on the Motorway.

The programme has been made by two Senior Observers of the Institute of Advanced Motorists (IAM).

The video may be used as an introduction or a reminder about Motorway Driving, or as an essential visual aid to assist in a lecture.
